JONATHAN CRUZ

Jonathan's interest in the fitness industry first piqued when he wanted to add cross training activities to benefit his triathlon training while a student at Dartmouth Medical School. Almost instantly, this translated into a passion for personal training and teaching fitness classes. For more than 25 years, Jonathan has been continually teaching a wide-range of fitness classes throughout many prestigious gyms in Boston and New England. His personal fitness philosophy is that cross training is absolutely key to keep your muscles guessing and should be incorporated into any fitness regimen as a long-term strategy to maintain a healthy mind and body.

Jonathan retired from his biomedical career as a neuropathologist in 2011 and has since refocused his time and energy to helping others become fit in all aspects their life through exercise. Since founding and opening BURN Fitness Studios in 2014, Jonathan has been featured in The Boston Globe, The Improper Bostonian, Boston Magazine, and numerous television shows and is recognized throughout the Boston community as a top fitness professional who is known for his positive outlook and motivational coaching skills.

Jonathan's fitness-related certifications include: Health Fitness Specialist and Certified Personal Trainer (American College of Sports Medicine, ACSM); Group Exercise Instructor (Aerobic and Fitness Association of America, AFAA), Spinning and Indoor Cycling (Madd Dog Athletics, Kaiser, Schwinn); TRX Functional Training (TRX); Group Power (Body Training Systems); UXF Burn and UXF Core (Town Sports International); Shockwave, Stacked, ETC (Equinox Fitness Training Institute); Animal Flow (with Mike Fitch); Indo-Row (with Josh Crosby); Broga Yoga (with Robert Sidoti).
